I have been going nuts over the last few months. I've wanted to find a few ways to go a little greener at home. I'm looking forward to starting a compost area outside, planting more vegetables this year, eating more local fish and maybe even making my own bread. I also want to find time to clean more, make more crafts and have fun with my family. Crap, I need a drink just writing this.

Speaking of drinking, tonight, Tuesday January 17th, from 6 to 8PM will be hosting our first monthly beer tasting. We are featuring Unibroue Brewery this month by pouring the Ephemere and Chambry Noir. If you stop by, $5.00 dollars we get you a sample of each and a pint of your choice. Best deal in town. The beer will be on tap until it runs out, so feel free to stop by and sample later this week too. Oh, and did I mention the Bacon and Bourbon Brownies ...

Wednesday is our first Om and Sip class. From 7 to 8PM we will be relaxing and drinking, in that order. Join us for a 20 minute relaxation session with yoga instructor Amber White and a 20 minute wine tasting and education from April. Join us for a great way to deal with "hump" day. The event is $10 and includes a full glass of wine. Please bring your own floor pillow.

Finally, please join us this Saturday, Jan. 21st, from 1 to 3PM for a really touching event - Support for Emma's Home.

A great customer of ours, Anne Foster Odendhal, is celebrating her birthday this month and she wanted to have a party that means something special and will make a difference in the community. Anne decided to host a party for "Emma's Home", a safe home opening in the Triangle next summer. Affiliated with Transforming Hope ministries, Emma's Home will be North Carolina's first home for young victims of human trafficking rescued in North Carolina. Unfortunately, did you know that most children forced into the sex-slave industry are around 12-14 years of age? And North Carolina ranks seventh among states where trafficking occurs?

So, if you want to make a big difference in someone's life, join us this Saturday. Make sure to ring a cash contribution or an item from their wish list (click here for list in Word .doc format).  Food will be provided and every guest will receive a sparkling cocktail. Wine and beer will be available to purchase.  Also, we will have live music, courtesy of Anne's husband, Shawn. A representative of Emma's Home will be in attendance to answer questions and share more information. If you cannot attend but still want to participate, you can drop off items from the wish list or checks (made payable to Transforming Hope Ministries).  Gifts are tax deductible.
