Saturday, Jan. 21st 1:00 to 3:00pm: Charity Event for Emma’s Home.

A great customer of ours, Anne Foster Odendhal is celebrating her birthday this month. Anne wanted to have a party that means something and will make a difference. She decided to host a party for "Emma's Home" which is a safe home opening in the Triangle next summer. They are affiliated with Transforming Hope ministries. Emma’s Home will be North Carolina’s 1st home for young victims of human trafficking rescued in North Carolina. Most children forced into the sex-slave industry are around 12-14 years of age. NC ranks 7th among states where trafficking occurs.

If you want to make a big difference in someone’s life, join us on Saturday, January 21st from 1:00 to 3:00. Bring a cash contribution or an item from their wish gift list (click here for list in Word .doc format). Food will be provided and every guest will receive a sparkling cocktail. Wine and beer will be available to purchase. We will have live music, courtesy of Anne’s husband, Shawn Odendhal. A representative of Emma’s House will be in attendance to answer questions and share more information. If you cannot attend but want to participate, you can drop off items from the wish list or mail checks (made payable to Transforming Hope Ministries). Gifts are tax deductible.

Dock to Door:

How would you like Fresh North Carolina seafood, delivered weekly. That's the slogan for Dock to Door, a Chapel Hill based coast to customer seafood company. Sip... is pleased to announce that we are the newest partner location for this exciting start up. You choose the seafood you want each week. All seafood is available in one pound increments and the minimum order requirement is just one pound, no long term commitment required. Since all the seafood is fresh and caught by North Carolina fishermen, availability depends on the season. Just to give you a taste, during the last few weeks, Dock to Door has offered Triggerfish, Shrimp (21/25s), Red Drum, Flounder, Scallops (a best seller!), Large Yellowfin Tuna and more. Order what you want, pick it up at Sip on Friday evenings between 5pm - 7pm.

Online ordering for Cary begins Thursday, October 6th for pick up Friday, October 14th. All orders must be placed by 10pm Wednesday, October 12th.

HOW IT WORKS in CARY:

1. Availability is posted Thursday by 5pm, and announced via the Dock to Door newsletter, The Catch, Thursday afternoons. Visit the Dock to Door website and place your order via our secure ordering system no later than 10pm the following Wednesday evening.

2. Pay for your order online using a credit card or PayPal account. Indicate "Cary" as a pick up location during the checkout process. You'll receive electronic confirmation of your order.

3. Pick up your order at our partner location, Sip...a Wine Store, in Cary on Friday evening between 5:00pm – 7:00pm.

ZING! Fresh seafood from North Carolina fishermen for your family will be on the dinner table in no time.

Coon Rock Farms has added Sip...a wine store to their list of drop off sites. They deliver every thursday. The new spring/summer deliveries start mid April and run until September.

Produce CSA: We offer a Produce CSA that gives you at least $25 worth of fresh, in-season, vegetables each week for 20 weeks starting in late April or early May (depending on weather) and running through September. The cost for the Produce CSA is $500.

Egg CSA: We offer an Egg CSA that is an add-on to the Produce CSA that gives you 1 dozen of our pasture raised, heritage breed eggs each week with your Produce CSA box. The cost of the Egg CSA add-on is $100.

Meat CSA: We offer a Meat CSA that gives you $80 of our pasture raised meats each month for 6 months. You can start the Meat CSA anytime and the cost for 6 months is $480 (plus $9.60 in NC meat tax).

Special Offer for returning subscribers: We are doing a special promotion for those customers who want to subscribe to all 3 CSA's (produce, meat, and eggs) for $1000 if paid in full by the end of January (an $89.60 savings). Getting the money in sooner helps us cover the startup expenses of spring planting and also reduces the time we spend on paperwork so it's a good deal for everyone. To take advantage of this offer, just send in the Produce/Egg subscription form and the Meat Subscription form filled out with your information and send one check for $1000.

Why a CSA? CSA customers get priority on our production because they have pre-paid and if there is excess CSA customers often get the extra in their box. This season's Winter CSA members have gotten $3 to $5 extra in most boxes so far. CSA customers also get items first. In summer, it's the heirloom tomatoes that go to the CSA before being available at our markets. The CSA is also a good choice for folks that just want a box of produce, eggs or meat to show up each week without having to think about it or plan ahead. It also works well for people who are strapped for time or can't get to markets because we deliver the CSA boxes to lots of locations throughout the triangle area including right to your home. In fact, one of the biggest draws of the CSA is our delivery locations and this year we have added lots of locations in Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Cary as well as an optional Home Delivery choice.
